101 Forward Control Club and Register

This was obviously one of the highlights of the event for me, if only to see so many 101s together at the same time!
One criticism often pointed toward the club is that they seem too traditional in their show attitude, and although TiggURR wasn't invited to be on the club stand (which is a great shame in my opinion, as the kids would have loved it and be drawn to it like a magnet and this may have increased interest in 101s in general), there was a very interesting camper conversion - which may not have been to everyones' taste, fitted out with a pine kitchen...  I reckon this is a good move for the club as it starts to introduce some diversity.  My personal opinion is that if the aim of the club is to remain focussed upon the preservation and use of this superb vehicle we must all accept that some will not want a camo paint job (although others will, and the likes of Les Adams do it very, very well indeed) or any military connections.  Rich clafton is a good example of this.  Had he not purchased TiggURR it would have been scrapped, gone forever.  Some may well believe that what he has done to TiggURR (300Tdi, paint it orange with black stripes etc.) is simply carnage, but the vehicle is still on the road and being used.  Maybe next year TiggURR may get an invite (Steve???)...

A very good Arena line-up on the Sunday morning with a very good mixture of vehicles and some sunshine! I must apologise to David Bowyer for accidentally standing on his foot too :-)
